Welcome to the Ringwood Dogs Training Club. Classes are taught by myself, Isabelle ape IMDT, ISAP – a fully qualified and accredited dog trainer and a friendly assistant. For more information about me and the services I have to offer, please visit my “Your Dog Trainer” page or email me via the Contact Me page.
All classes are taught using “Positive Reinforcement” techniques which means no force or punishment will be used to train your dog and adolescent puppy. Classes will be kept small to 6-8 dogs to allow for individual attention if needed and an opportunity for owners to get to know the other participants.
Dogs shall work towards improving upon the “eight essential commands” needed to become a well behaved member of the family including – Focus, Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave It, Drop It and Heel (walking nicely on leash) and building on these essential commands by adding the three “D’s” in training (Distance, Distraction and Duration), lowering and raising criteria depending on the dog. Also included will be tricks, games and enrichment to offer a good balance between obedience and socialisation. If your dog doesn’t know any commands – do not fear, they will soon learn many by joining the class!
These classes are geared towards friendly, well socialised adult and teenage dogs who enjoy a class environment and meeting other dogs and people. Meet like minded owners and their dogs for an action packed class covering General Obedience, Socialisation, Fun and Games. Dog training is a family event, so we encourage you to bring partners and children along to the class so that everyone can learn together.
Please note: These classes are NOT for dogs who are reactive towards other dogs. This includes reactive barking / lunging at other dogs. Bringing a reactive dog to class often makes matters worse for your dog and is very distracting and sometimes frightening for the other dogs attending classes. Should you be worried about your dog’s behaviour and whether the course will be suitable for her/him, please do get in touch and we can chat about your needs or look to booking a private “one to one” training session to address your situation and training requirements.
The Teenage Loony Course
The Ringwood Dogs Teenage Loony Course prides itself on being one of the best teenage dog courses in the area. It runs for six weeks and caters towards young dogs of all breeds and sizes over the age of 20 weeks old at the start of the course. They are ideal for teenage dogs who have missed out on group puppy classes or for newcomers to training who now want to start their journey into the world of obedience! Each six week course covers the essential “eight essential commands” needed to become a well mannered member of the family, lowering or increasing the level of difficulty dependant upon your dog’s ability. The course covers Focus, Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leave It, Drop It and Heel (walking nicely on leash.
The sessions are a great way for dogs to meet other dogs and people and learn the correct way to behave and concentrate around them. This course is a “Positive Reinforcement” course which means there no force or punishment will be used to train your dog. All sessions include detailed homework sheets so that you can practice at home with your dog after the class, including a comprehensive Teenage Loony Manual and a welcome Enrichment Bag. Dog training is a family event, so we encourage you to bring partners and children along to the class so that everyone can learn together. So if you have a teenage loony in your house, you need the Teenage Loony Course! Dogs must be fully vaccinated, well socialised and comfortable with other dogs and people.
