I am delighted to announce I have been approved as a registered KAD (Kids Around Dogs) Trainer which means I specialise in safety around dogs, fear of dogs, families with special needs children, young handlers, school dogs and family dogs. As an approved KAD Trainer, I help children to understand how dogs communicate and how they can build a happy, healthy relationship to enable them to forge an everlasting bond. Support is also offered to Schools and Teachers who have a school dog on site.
The picture below is of my daughter and Dudley. Dogs do not generally like being hugged but Dudley has been part of the family for the past 4 years regularly attending daycare and boarding and has a strong bond with my daughter. He is very comfortable in the environment – hence he is happy to be hugged for this picture. His eyes are soft and he has a wistful look on his face but he knows that if he wanted to move away – then he would have been allowed to. Children should be taught not to hug dogs without fully understanding their body language first, so that they can learn to respect their dog’s personal space, which will in turn prevent accidents from happening.
I look forward to meeting you and working with your dogs.
