Dog and puppy training is offered in the Dorset, Hampshire and New Forest areas. Dog and Puppy trainer Isabelle Papé of Ringwood Dogs teaches her clients to train their dogs and puppies to be better behaved using Positive Reinforcement Techniques. Isabelle gained her qualifications with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and follows their Code of Ethics which means no force or punishment is used when training your dogs..
You may be a new owner with a new dog and feeling rather overwhelmed or you may be an experienced owner with a dog who needs a refresher training session.
Isabelle uses training techniques based on common sense, repetition and consistency, which are rewarding for the dog and owner, helping to create a bond between both.
There is never a “Cure All” method for training dogs as each dog and owner have different needs and expectations. However, once your dog knows the basics and you incorporate these into your daily routine, life with your dog will become much more enjoyable and you’ll feel better in control!
Isabelle offers bespoke one-to-one dog and puppy training in the Ringwood locality and surrounding areas of: Ashley Heath, Avon Castle, Beaminster, Beaulieu, Blandford Forum, Blashford, Bournemouth, Bramshaw, Bransgore, Bridport, Broadstone, Brockenhurst, Burley, Christchurch, Crow, Dorchester, Ellingham, Ferndown, Fordingbridge, Gorely, Hangersley, Highcliffe, Hightown, Ibsley, Lyme Regis, Lymington, Lyndhurst, Matchams, Milford-on-Sea, Moyles Court, New Milton, Poole, Portland, Poulner, Ringwood, Sherborne, Sopley, St. Ives, St. Leonards, Sturminster Newton, Swanage, Three Legged Cross, Verwood, Wareham, West Moors, Weymouth, Wimborne and even further afield.

Dog Trainer
Ringwood Dogs – Three Legged Cross, Ringwood, covering Dorset, Hampshire & New Forest area
Ringwood Dogs offers training in the comfort of your own home. Flexibility in scheduling an appointment, one to one attention and a personalised training programme to suit your needs, makes this option appealing to busy families, working individuals and those who want to just focus on one problem. Teach your dog the “8 Essential Commands” needed to become a well behaved member of your family, namely:
- Watch Me (Reflex to Name)
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Come
- Leave It (back away from the object)
- Drop It (drop the object)
- Loose Leash Walking (walking without pulling on the leash)
Or simply concentrate on a few specific training areas.
A home visit takes about 1.5 hours and the personalised training programme will be worked through together. All sessions include detailed homework sheets so that you the owner can carry on the training once Isabelle has left.
Behavioural Consultations for your Dog or Puppy

If your unruly K9 is displaying problem behaviour, Ringwood Dogs can help by addressing the cause of the problem as well as the behaviour problem itself.
The initial consultation will take about 1.5 hrs where a full case history will be taken. Ringwood Dogs will look at all the factors affecting your dog and a personalised training programme, offering suitable behaviour modification exercises will be demonstrated by Isabelle. All consultations come with detailed homework sheets and follow-up consultations are recommended as necessary. Problem behaviour dealt with by Ringwood Dogs are:
- Fear
- Destructive Behaviour
- Separation Anxiety
- Inappropriate Toileting
- Barking
- General Bad Manners – stealing, jumping, leash-pulling, mouthing, attention seeking, etc
Please note whilst Isabelle can help with many common behavioural problems, severe problems such as aggression, severe anxiety, phobias etc often benefit from a full veterinary health check to make sure there are no underlying health issues creating these problems and a veterinary referral to an animal behaviourist who will work closely with your vet. Residential training or carefully planned stooge sessions in a controlled environment may also be necessary. Ringwood Dogs does not offer this type of service but can recommend other canine behavioural consultants who will be able to help.
Puppy Pre-Vaccination Home Visits

Most puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age but are unable to go outside and socialise until they have had all their vaccinations. Ringwood Dogs can come and visit to help with the settling in of the new pup into your home. A puppy home visit can help with:
- Problems with your puppy’s routine and addressing any concerns or issues.
- Common puppy problems – chewing, play-biting, jumping, house-training and crate training and how to overcome them.
- Answer any questions that you may have about your puppy’s training and socialisation.
- Demonstrate and practice training exercises that will benefit you and your puppy.
- Develop an action plan for your puppy.
